Mark Neely
MNAR Owner and
Trapper Biography
Mark Neely is a Christian man that's been married to the same woman since 1984. He and his wife raised two daughters that are married and has one grandson that keeps him busy.
Mark retired from the U.S. Navy in 2003 and has recently retired from the Florida Forest Service as a Wildland Fire Fighter. He started MNAR (Mark's Nuisance Animal Removal), a lifelong interest in November 2019 and added to it by purchasing the Lightning Traps Company in June of 2020. He chose trapping and cage trap manufacturing to keep him busy, and so far he's very much enjoying both.
Mark became a professional trapper in 2005 when he started charging for his services. He has trapped for most of his life and now has turned that passion into a business. After joining the Florida Trapper's Association, he completed every course of training offered and now enjoys the instructing side of the Association. Although he'll trap most anything asked of him, his favorite is the coyote. Over the last several years he's trapped on large cattle ranches and high fence game preserves, saving the owners large sums of profit by controlling the coyote population. Beaver comes in a close second but he says there's nothing like trying to outsmart a coyote.
When not actually trapping, he spends his time building cage traps. Mark believes that his Lighting Traps are among the best built. He builds and inspects each trap himself and says "a quality built and smooth operating trap sure makes trapping easier and more enjoyable."
After two retirements, he's finally doing what he enjoys.
